The other day a customer was asking about whether it was OK to wash his Coverking Stormproof cover in a washing machine.  Here is the recommended care for a Stormproof cover.

The manufacturer does not recommend putting car covers in a washing machine, but if you must, make sure it is a large commercial washer that only turns in one direction.  Washers that agitate in a back and forth direction but a lot of stress on the car cover's seams.

Only use mild detergents, such as those recommended for baby clothes.

The recommended method of cleaning is the hose off the cover and hand treat any soiled areas and then air dry the cover.

Please note that these directions are specific to the Coverking Stormproof fabric.  The Stormproof fabric is unique in that it is untreated and uncoated! All of its great properties (breathability, softness, water repellency, compactness, UV resistance and resistance to pollutants) are attributed to the fabric's natural properties.
